ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday morning visited Shaheen Chowk Underpass in federal capital as the project is closer to completion.
The minister inspected carpeting work, plantation and other finishing work during the visit. He directed the authorities to place more plants on the sides of the road.
Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi said the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project will resolve a longstanding traffic issue at this point, brining relief to citizens.
Shaheen Chowk Underpass Inauguration Date
The interior minister announced that the Shaheen Chowk Underpass will be inaugurated on December 31, 2025, when it will be opened for traffic.
CDA Chief Visits Shaheen Chowk Underpass
Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, visited the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project to assess the progress of construction.
During his visit, officials updated him that the project was nearing completion ahead of schedule, with over 95% of the work already finished. They noted that the structural phase had been completed, and finishing touches were being applied rapidly.
Randhawa expressed satisfaction with both the pace and the quality of the construction, emphasizing that high standards were maintained throughout the project.
He highlighted that the underpass would significantly improve traffic flow, offering a signal-free route for students from nearby schools and colleges, as well as for daily commuters. This, he noted, would result in considerable time and fuel savings for the public.
