KARACHI – A young man, identified as Irfan, has died in Karachi police custody under suspicious circumstances, reportedly due to alleged torture.
Following his death, the Karachi police have suspended seven officers, including three Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI). An inquiry into the incident has been initiated, and the authorities have ordered a post-mortem examination of the body.
Irfan’s neighbor told media that Irfan was a resident of Bahawalpur and had come to Karachi for sightseeing.
Azhar claimed that Irfan was taken into police custody on Wednesday morning from Ayesha Manzil and that the following evening, police informed Irfan’s uncle of his death.
The case has raised serious concerns over police conduct, with authorities now seeking to investigate the events surrounding the death while calling for justice.
