The Convener of sub-Committee of the Senate Functional Committee on Government Assurances Senator Fida Muhammad on Monday called for action against all those who have been usurping the rights of allottees of the National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS).
He directed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, M Ashfaq Ghumman, who had conducted an inquiry on the matter to submit a report to the committee within two days.
Serious notice was taken of the absence of the deputy commissioner, Islamabad; who despite a notice being sent to the commissioner office, Islamabad, failed to show up.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Senator Azam Khan Swati, Senator Abida Muhammad Azeem and senior officers from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, CDA and Islamabad District Administration, Circle Registrar Cooperative Housing Societies, Islamabad, National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS) along with all quarters concerned.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Senator Azam Khan Swati, once again stressed that strong directions must go out from this forum that original allottees must be facilitated on priority.
He said primarily the main concern and focus of the committee must be to ensure that NAECHS come to fruition. As per inquiry, the committee was informed that NASECHS has handed over its 1,030 kanals land and PKR433,000,000 as development charges (PKR 250000 per plot against 1730 plots) to FECHS. The NASECHS had handed over the land and accordingly paid development cost to FECHS.
The FECHS has issued 1097 allotment letters to the members of NASECHS. The NASECHS invited its members to clear the dues against their membership (PKR 850,000 per plot). 1097 members had cleared their dues and allotment letters were issued to them accordingly.
Since the date of agreement FECHS had provided the possession of 363plots to the NAECHS, the remaining 743 allotees are still waiting. —APP
