RAWALPINDI – All schools will remain closed in Rawalpindi today (Tuesday) due to weather conditions amid heavy rains, the city administration has announced.
The deputy commissioner Rawalpindi made the announcement in a post X, saying persistent rain raised concerns over possible flooding and disruption to normal activities across the garrison city.
The administration has advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution, particularly in areas vulnerable to water accumulation and flooding.

Nullah Lai, a major stormwater channel running through Rawalpindi, has previously posed a significant flood risk during periods of intense monsoon rainfall. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as water levels continue to rise.
Heavy Rain Floods Low-Lying Areas in Islamabad and Rawalpindi
Torrential rainfall has inundated several low-lying areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, prompting authorities to place relevant departments on high alert as water levels in Nullah Lai continue to rise.
The twin cities have received up to 160 millimetres of rainfall, with authorities warning that a significant flood surge from Islamabad could enter Rawalpindi.
According to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), 112mm of rain was recorded in New Katarian, 75mm in Shamsabad, 50mm in Pirwadhai, 60mm in Saidpur, 106mm in Golra and 65mm at the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
In Rawalpindi, Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir directed the relevant departments to remain on high alert in view of the intense rainfall and the potential threat of flooding.
WASA officials said the water level in Nullah Lai at Katarian had crossed 24 feet, while water at the Gawalmandi Bridge reached 17 feet.
Residents living along the banks of Nullah Lai have been advised to move to safer locations as a precautionary measure.
