Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said that building a prosperous Pakistan is a duty of every Pakistani.
“Every citizen will have to take his responsibility and make contribution to the development of the homeland.”
Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid was speaking at an Independence Day ceremony at King Edward Medical University here the other day.
Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Hussain, Chairman Board of Governors KEMC Prof Mehmud Shaukat, Dean Prof Saqib Saeed, MS Mayo Hospital Dr Iftikhar, Prof Javed Chaudhry, faculty members, Doctors, MS of affiliated hospitals of KEMU and students.
VC KEMU Prof Khalid Maqbool Gondal and Prof Mehmud Shaukat spoke on the occasion. All the participants prayed for prosperity and progress of the country.
The ceremony started with national anthem and sweets were distributed to the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Yasmin Rashid said: “We received an independent country with the efforts of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal.”
She stressed that now making Pakistan prosperous country is the collective responsibility of every member of the society.
“The zeal and passion of Pakistan ka matlab kia, La ilaha Illallah” can put us on right track and Insha Allah Pakistan will stay forever.”
The minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar are taking the country in line with the vision of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
“During the Corona Pandemic, the staff of King Edward Medical University and doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and others workers of Mayo hospital rendered exemplary services.
Prof Asad Aslam has sent a message from Canada to Pakistan on his recovery from the COVID-19.
He has said Punjab is providing international standard treatment to patients. Pakistanis are receiving good quality vaccine.”
KU Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal thanked the Health Minister and said the KEMU doctors played pivotal role in the Independence struggle.
Col Ilahi Bukhsh who treated Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was former Principal at KEMU. He assured that KEMU would continue its tradition of bringing good name to the country.
Prof Mehmud Shaukat said every Pakistani must follow the teachings of our great leaders. He said must not forget great people who struggled for independence.
Meanwhile, Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Sarah Aslam said that special vaccination “door to door social mobilization campaign” has born fruitful results.
Now Primary and Secondary Department has devised a comprehensive plan for the vaccination of participants of Majalis and processions during the Holy month of Muharram.
While reviewing current status of Covid-19, she said that due to intensive vaccination drive, a huge rise has been observed in the number of people coming for vaccination.
Sarah Aslam informed that t the health department has maintained the number of vaccination at 0.5 million on a daily basis for the past fortnight.
A new record of vaccination has been set as record number of people is being inoculated against the virus on daily basis. The secretary said that currently there are a total of 662 vaccination centres working across the province.
