JEDDAH – The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced a complete ban on all forms of photography and video recording at the Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nabawi from the upcoming Hajj season.
This restriction will apply to mobile phones, professional cameras, and all recording devices.
According to the ministry, the decision comes in response to concerns that photography was leading to overcrowding, disruptions during prayers, distractions during worship, and violations of the privacy of visitors.
The aim of the ban is to ensure a peaceful and safe environment for all pilgrims.
Security personnel will strictly enforce this policy, and the ban will also be applicable at other holy sites along the Hajj route.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) congratulated Saudi Arabia on the successful Hajj season, expressing its appreciation for the efforts and facilities provided by the Government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in caring for the pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors, and for the distinguished organization with which these rituals are managed and the two holy mosques are served.
