LAHORE – Good news for thousands of families without land as the Punjab government announced the ‘Apna Khet Apna Rozgar’ program. Along with a free 20-year lease of five acres of cultivable land, each successful beneficiary will receive Rs2.5Lac in financial assistance to help turn the land into a sustainable source of income.
Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz made the announcement, saying beneficiaries receiving 5 acres of land under the provincial government’s “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” initiative will also receive Rs250,000 in financial assistance to help them begin cultivation.
Speaking at the scheme’s balloting ceremony, the chief minister said the Punjab government would provide Rs50,000 per acre, amounting to Rs250,000 for each beneficiary allotted 5 acres. She emphasized that the selection process was conducted through 100% merit-based balloting, ensuring that the most deserving families were chosen.
Maryam Nawaz revealed that the government has directed the Agriculture Department to identify additional cultivable land so that more families can benefit from the initiative while boosting Punjab’s agricultural output.
Under Apna Khet Apna Rozgar scheme, 30,000 successful applicants have each been allotted five acres of cultivable government land on a free 20-year lease, offering landless and deserving families a long-term opportunity to earn a sustainable livelihood through farming.
She felicitated successful candidates, saying the provincial government would not only provide land but also extend technical support to help beneficiaries cultivate their fields effectively and improve productivity.
She further said the initiative aims to empower farmers across the region, including Thar, Potohar, Southern Punjab, and Central Punjab, while strengthening the province’s agricultural sector and increasing overall food production.
Punjab government believes the scheme will create new livelihood opportunities for thousands of deserving families while contributing to long-term agricultural growth across the province.
