Reward School among 126 buildings sealed in Lahore

LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 126 illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulter premises in different areas of Lahore on Thursday.

LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 22 buildings in Allama Iqbal Town, 29 in Gulberg and New Garden Town, and 75 in Shadman, New Muslim Town, Azadi Chowk, Timber Market and on Wahdat Road during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.

The sealed premises include Reward School, Royal Heaven Cambridge School, Hassan Orthopedic Hospital and Poly Clinic, private hospitals, workshops, grocery stores, pharmacies, food outlets, offices, and other businesses.

LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police.

According to the LDA officials, several notices were served to these buildings’ owners before carrying out the operations.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against encroachments, illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters in LDA-controlled areas.
