LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 146 illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulter premises during operations in different parts of Lahore on Tuesday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 20 buildings in Allama Iqbal Town, 26 in PIA Housing Scheme, 32 in Gulberg, New Garden Town and Faisal Town, and 68 in Shadman, Shah Jamal, New Muslim Town, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Ek Moriya Pul and on Canal Bank Road for illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Allied Bank Limited, MCB Bank, Habib Metro Bank, Kips School, Stars Group of Schools, English Grammar School, The Candour School, Pak Vision Colleges, private hospitals, workshops, grocery stores, pharmacies, food outlets, salons, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police.
According to the LDA spokesperson, several notices were served to these buildings’ owners before carrying out the operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violayions of bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters in LDA-controlled areas.
