Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference-Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter leader Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has denounced the continued illegal house detention of senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been under illegal house detention since August 5, 2019 when the Modi-led fascist Indian government repealed Kashmir’s special status and imposed military siege in the territory.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad said that the Indian authorities had during the last three years either concealed truth or suppressed the truth or depended on blatant lies. He added when Mirwaiz himself came out of his house to just proceed to the Jamia Masjid to offer the Friday prayers, he was brazenly stopped by Indian police despite a latest statement by the Lt Governor that he was free to go anywhere and claimed that he was never under house detention.

He said after Friday’s episode faced by Mirwaiz, a bundle of lies of the Indian establishment have fallen on ground and broken like a house of cards.

He urged the United Nations to focus on the prevailing Kashmir tragedy and depute its representatives to assess the situation and meet the Hurryat leaders in different jails. He said that the detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was a test case and India’s lies must not be taken lightly.—INP
