LAHORE – The Local Government Department in Punjab has launched Pakistan’s first-ever e-registration service, facilitating online registration for births, deaths, marriages, and divorces.
The mobile app, CRMS, has been launched in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The e-registration app was officially inaugurated by Punjab’s Local Government Minister, Zeeshan Rafiq, alongside senior officials including the Secretary of Local Government, Shakeel Ahmed, NADRA COO, Syed Abdul Salam, NADRA Punjab DG, Fizza Shahid, and others.
With this new system, citizens can now register the birth, deaths and other events from the comfort of their homes. The data will be directly linked to NADRA’s system, ensuring automatic registration, making the entire process seamless.
The app is designed to collect accurate data by registering events like births, marriages, deaths, and divorces, and users will also receive official certificates.
The e-registration service will be available across Punjab, reaching even remote areas through mobile registration services.
This initiative aims to take the registration process directly to the citizens rather than waiting for them to visit government offices.
In the next phase, the app will include a birth and death notification tool. Additionally, Lady Health Workers will be connected to this digital system to further enhance its accessibility and efficiency.
The Secretary of Local Government, Shakeel Ahmed, emphasized that this digital initiative will eliminate the need for citizens to visit government offices, reducing delays and enhancing convenience.
