ISLAMABAD – A disturbing case of sexual assult reported from Rawalpindi where a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted multiple times after being drawn from Bangkok under the false promise of marriage.
A case has been filed at Rawat police station on victim’s complaint. According to the report, the accused first met and befriended her in Bangkok two years earlier. Four months ago, he rented a flat in a private housing society. There, he is accused of raping her several times before refusing to marry her.
The victim further alleged that the man confined her inside the flat, subjected her to violence, and fled after taking her money. The named accused has been arrested, and the investigation has been handed over to the SSIO unit.
This incident is far from one such case as it shows ongoing menace of sexual assault and violence against women that continues to grip Pakistan.
In Punjab alone, police recorded 4,446 rape cases in the first six months of 2026, compared with 8,553 across the whole of 2025. There are hundreds of more gender-based violence incidents in 2026, including hundreds of rapes, alongside thousands of cases of murder, torture, abduction and honour killings.
