KABUL – Afghanistan’s leading spinner Rashid Khan has disclosed that he is unable to move freely in his home country and relies on a bulletproof vehicle for personal security due to safety concerns.
Rashid made the revelation during a conversation with former England captain Kevin Pietersen, in which he spoke candidly about the security challenges he faces in Afghanistan.
He said that he cannot walk around the streets of Kabul like ordinary citizens and must take special precautions for his safety.
In response to Pietersen’s question about whether he could roam freely in Kabul, Rashid replied in the negative, explaining that the use of a bulletproof car has become necessary to ensure his protection.
Pietersen expressed surprise at the disclosure, while Rashid’s calm and matter-of-fact response suggested that he has come to accept the situation as a routine part of his life.
