Rain update for Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Wet spell to continue during weekend

PESHAWAR – Rains and gusty winds are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday with occasional gaps.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea penetrate upper and central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely approach upper parts of the country tonight.

Under these conditions, rains and gusty winds are expected at isolated places in Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Malakand, Swat, Kohistan and surroundings on Friday night.

On Saturday and Sunday, intermittent rains and gusty winds are expected in Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Malakand, Shangla, Kohistan, Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Wazirstan, Kohat, Karak, Bannu and surrounding areas.

Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 41°C and 43°C on Saturday and Sunday, and between 40°C and 42°C on Monday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the province during the last 24 hours.

Bannu remained the hottest place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. The maximum temperature in Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan was recorded at 44°C.

In Peshawar, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan, relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 44 per cent, 21 per cent and 35 per cent, respectively.
