Rain-thunderstorm likely in upcountry

Rain-wind-thunderstorm is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Northeast Punjab (NP), Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) while dry weather to continue in most plain areas of the country in next 24 hours.

A westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country, met office reported.

In last 24 hours weather remained dry in most parts of the country, while cold in upper parts while rain and snowfall was recorded at few places.

Spokesman Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Dr Khalid Malik has predicted a spell of rains that is expected in federal capital from March 14.

Talking to APP, he said PMD forecast above normal rainfall in March with overall two to three rain spells likely during the month.

He said weather pattern had changed due to fluctuations in the temperature at sea level and rising global temperature.

He said prolonged dry spell during the current winter season produced harmful effects on human health as well as agriculture sector.

The Multan Met office has forecast dry weather with chances of Dust Raising Winds (DRW) for the city and its suburbs during the next 24 hours.—APP
