Monsoon rains accompanied by strong winds lashed Lahore and parts of Punjab on Sunday, disrupting routine life by causing urban flooding, power shutdowns and traffic jams.
The rains and strong winds provided much-needed relief to the citizens by causing a decrease in the daytime temperatures.
Experts have forecast the monsoon spell to continue intermittently on Sunday evening and night, and as well as on Monday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents are penetrating upper and eastern parts of Pakistan.
A shallow trough of westerly wave also prevails over northern and western parts of the country. The seasonal low-pressure area lies over northeast Balochistan.
Weather Forecast
Under these conditions, mainly muggy weather is expected in most parts of Punjab on Sunday evening and night, as well as on Monday.
However, more intermittent rains are expected in Murree, Galiyat, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Bahawalnagar and Jhelum.
Temperatures Forecast
Lahore’s daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 30°C and 32°C on Monday and between 29°C and 31°C on Tuesday.

Over the past 24 hours, intermittent rains with isolated heavy downpours occurred in Lahore and parts of Punjab. Muggy weather prevailed in most parts.
