On the eve of 72nd anniversary of Independence Day of Pakistan, the 72nd anniversary of Radio Pakistan will also be observed today (Wednesday) with full zeal and fervor.
Radio Pakistan came into being on the midnight falling between 13th and 14th August, 1947 along with the creation of Pakistan. The first announcement about the creation of Pakistan was made from Radio Pakistan at that time it was known as Pakistan Broadcasting Service.
Radio Pakistan will broadcast a special Transmission on 14th August to mark the day in a befitting manner. A month long celebrations through different programmesare already underway along with tree plantation activities.
Director General Radio Pakistan Shahera Shahid has congratulated the employees, artists and listeners of Radio Pakistan on the 72nd anniversary of Independence Day of Pakistan and 72nd anniversary of Radio Pakistan.
In her message on the occasion, she said it is a matter of great pride for the employees and artists of Radio Pakistan to be a part of this prestigious organization which has the honour of making the first announcement of the creation of our beloved country.
Shahera Shahid called upon the employees and artists of the organization to fully participate in the month long programmes scheduled in connection with the IndependenceDay celebrations. She emphasized upon participation in the Shajar-e-Azadi campaign of Radio Pakistan to make Radio Pakistan stations clean and green under the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The Director General said Radio Pakistan is the defender of the ideological frontiers of the country andit is our commitment to provide information, education and entertainment to the masses through our programmes across the country and abroad. She said we are committed to broadcast programmes focusing on the diverse culture and history of Pakistan keeping in view our rich traditions and norms.
Shahera Shahid said that we are moving ahead with modern technology to reach the masses in a more effective way. Radio Pakistan’s stations are now available on the internet as online radio stations; besides the listeners can also reach Radio Pakistan’s programmes on mobile phone App.
She said Radio Pakistan’s website in English and Urdu provides latest information to the masses at fast speed and is also used as a credible source by the national and international media.
