LAHORE – The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has directed all unlicensed healthcare establishments (HCEs) to implement the minimum service delivery standards (MSDS) and has allowed a compliance opportunity by granting a moratorium on regular inspections.
According to a communique, effective immediately through July 31 this year, regular inspections have been suspended to provide dedicated time for implementing the MSDS. However, inspections would continue for the uninspected healthcare facilities, and where it is imperative to carry out investigations into complaints. This critical window will also allow HCEs to align with patient safety requirements.
Beginning on August 1, inspections will resume, and HCEs found to be non-compliant with the MSDS will face strict punitive actions under the PHC Act 2010. The HCEs requiring implementation support can contact the Inspections Directorate for guidance during this moratorium period.
“This is a final opportunity to secure operational legitimacy,” said PHC spokesperson, adding that “The PHC urges all unlicensed facilities to act now – compliance ensures patient safety and safeguards your practice’s future. Missing this deadline risks strict punitive actions,” he warned.
The spokesperson further emphasised that the MSDS implementation was non-negotiable for delivering quality healthcare. “Facilities achieving compliance will gain licensed status by demonstrating commitment to standardised care and patient safety,” he said.
