The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has received more than 20,000 applications for its Global IT Certifications Programme since the initiative was launched in September 2024.
The update was shared during a progress review meeting chaired by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf. The meeting was attended by Director General e-Governance Sajid Latif, Director of the Skills Development Wing Chaudhry Ahmed Islam, and other senior officials, who assessed the programme’s implementation, including application processing, candidate verification, and reimbursement procedures.
Officials informed the meeting that the eligibility of nearly 11,000 applicants has been verified through a dedicated online portal developed by PITB. Payment verification has been completed for around 1,350 applicants, while certification verification has been finalised for approximately 1,150 candidates, allowing the reimbursement process to proceed.
According to the briefing, 662 successful participants have already received full reimbursement of their certification fees, with the funds transferred directly to their bank accounts after completing all verification requirements.
The Global IT Certifications Programme is designed to help young people in Punjab acquire internationally recognised digital credentials, improving their employment prospects and enabling them to compete in the global technology industry.
Speaking at the meeting, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the strong response from aspiring professionals highlights the increasing demand for internationally recognised digital skills and reflects the changing needs of the IT sector.
He added that PITB has expanded the programme to include 125 globally recognised IT certifications, providing Pakistani youth with greater opportunities to develop advanced technical skills and pursue competitive careers in the international digital economy.
