More intermittent monsoon rains with heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday night and Thursday.
Synoptic Situation
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea & Bay of Bengal are penetrating the upper and central parts of Pakistan and are likely to strengthen. A westerly wave is also affecting the upper and central parts of the country.
Forecast
Under these conditions, more widespread intermittent rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Punjab, Northeast Balochistan, southeast Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday night and Thursday. Heavy falls and at times very heavy falls are also expected at isolated places during the period.
Impacts
Widespread rains may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad), Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree & Galyat, and Kashmir.
Heavy rains may generate flash flooding in local streams and nullahs of Kashmir, Murree & Galyat, Northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and the northeastern parts of Balochistan.
Downpour may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Multan and Faisalabad. Windstorm, lightning & heavy rains may damage weak structures such as solar panels, electric poles, and billboards.

Daytime temperatures in Islamabad and Rawalpindi are expected to remain between 26°C and 28°C on Thursday and Friday.
