LAHORE – The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Monday arrested 12 suspected terrorists from Lahore, Faisalabad and Bahawalpur over alleged links with India’s intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
The CTD Punjab said that the weapons, explosive materials and detonators were seized from the detained suspects. The department added that sensitive photographs and videos of key installations were also recovered from individuals believed to be working for RAW.
A CTD spokesperson said that images, videos and location details of a madrassa and a local festival were also found in the possession of the suspects.
In Lahore, the arrested suspects were identified as Sukhdeep Singh, Azmat, Faizan, Nabeel, Abrar, Usman and Sarfaraz. In Faisalabad, the CTD apprehended a suspect named Danish while in Bahawalpur the detainees included Rajab, Hashim, Saqib and Arif—described as members of a group called “Fitna-e-Hindustan.”
The spokesperson revealed that the arrests were made with the help of a Facebook ID named “Adil,” allegedly operated from India. He also disclosed that Sukhdeep Singh, one of the arrested suspects, was born Christian and had recently converted to another faith.
The spokesperson said that the suspects were receiving substantial funding from RAW. The cases have been registered against all arrested individuals and investigations are underway.
