LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has departed for Belem, Brazil, to attend the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) on climate change, where she will represent Punjab’s initiatives for sustainable development and environmental protection.
The official sources said that CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif will brief participants on Punjab’s flagship projects, including the Suthra Punjab (Clean Punjab) initiative and the province’s progress in E-Mobility and clean energy transition.
During her address at COP30, the Chief Minister will speak on Climate-Resilient Regional Leadership, highlighting Punjab’s efforts toward sustainable urban growth, resilience against climate challenges, and green governance.
Participants of the global conference will also be informed about Punjab’s wildlife reform initiatives and environmental conservation measures designed to protect biodiversity and promote eco-friendly development.
On the sidelines of the summit, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to hold meetings with several key international leaders and officials, including the Vice President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Global Director for Climate Change at the World Bank, the Director General of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and senior representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
The officials said CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to Brazil carries great importance, as it aims to strengthen Punjab’s global partnerships and highlight the province’s leadership in climate resilience and environmental sustainability.
