Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Wednesday has said that under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government believes in the basic, constitutional and democratic right of freedom of expression.
In a series of tweets, the special assistant said the media is the fourth pillar of the state, and the government is determined to make its freedom and voice stronger.
She said the accountability system of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) was criticized with the claim that the government controls it.
Dr Firdous saidnow media tribunals are being established to decide new and pending cases within ninety days.
She said the special tribunals will also prove to be a milestone in solution of the problems of the media workers and providing them speedy justice.—INP
