LAHORE – Quetta Gladiators beat Lahore Qalandars by five wickets in the fourth Pakistan Super League season 9 match at Gaddafi Stadium on Monday evening.
Chasing 188 runs target for victory, Quetta Gladiators crossed the finishing line with five wickets in hand and five balls to spare.
Khawaja Nafay remained the top scorer with a match-winning 60 runs followed by Saud Shakeel who made 40. Jason Roy made 24 and skipper Rilee Rossouw 18. Zaman Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Sikandar Raza and Salman Fayyaz bagged one wicket each.
Khawaja Nafay was named player of the match.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Qalandars managed to score 187/7 in the allotted 20 overs despite losing the key wicket of Fakhar Zaman at nine. Sahibzada Farhan was the top scorer with 62 runs. Rapid 45 runs from Jahandad Khan helped Qalandars to post a formidable total. Mohammad Hasnain and Akeal Hosein bagged two wickets each while Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Waseem and Abrar Ahmed took one wicket each.
Lahore Qalandars lost the previous match against Shadab Khan-led Islamabad United. Quetta Gladiators, however, started the tournament with a victory against Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi.
