PSL 2024, Match 14: Multan Sultans thrash Lahore Qalandars by 60 runs

LAHORE – Multan Sultans thrash Lahore Qalandars by 60 runs in the 14th Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 match at Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Chasing a challenging 215-run target for victory, Qalandars kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were all out at 154 in 17 0vers. Sahibzada Farhan was the top scorer with 31 runs followed by Rassie van der Dussen who made 30. Fakhar Zaman scored 23 runs, Sikandar Raza 17, Carlos Brathwaite 14 not out and Kamran Ghulam 12 runs. No other batter could manage to reach double figures. Usama Mir bagged six wickets and Faisal Akram two while Khushdil Shah and Aftab Ibrahim took one wicket each. Usman Khan was named player of the match.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Sultans maintained a healthy run rate throughout the innings despite losing the key wicket of skipper Mohammad Rizwan in the first over. Usman Khan was the top scorer with 96 runs followed by Iftikhar Ahmed and Reeza Hendricks who made 40 runs each. Tayyab Tahir scored 21 runs. Shaheen Shah Afridi bagged two wickets while Carlos Brathwaite and Sikandar Raza took one wicket each.

Sultans are leading the table with 10 points after winning five out of their six matches. Qalandars are at the bottom of the list after losing their all six games.
