A peaceful protest march was taken out in the Kashmir University (KU) campus in Srinagar today (Friday) against a sacrilegious video posted on social media by a Hindu student from India studying at the National Institute of Technology (NIT).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the occupied territory is simmering with anger since Tuesday after the Hindu student studying at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar posted on social media a derogatory video clip about the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Scores of students took out the march against the derogatory social media post by the NIT student in the university complex located in the Hazratbal area of the city after the Juma prayers.

The protesters raised slogans in favour of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), officials said. They said the protesters, including female students, were not allowed to move outside the main gate of the university. They later dispersed peacefully.

The students held a protest at the NIT on Tuesday against the heinous act of the Hindu student that has hurt religious sentiments of the Muslims. The protesters demanded stringent action against the Hindu student. Fearing escalation in protests, the authorities closed the NIT for winter vacation on Thursday, 10 days ahead of the schedule.

Forceful demonstrations were also held at Srinagar’s Amar Singh College and Islamia College on Wednesday against the blasphemous social media post.

A strong protest was held in Muzaffarabad, today, against a derogatory video about the Holy Prophet (SAW) posted on social media by a Hindu student from India studying at an institute in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

A large number of people participated in the protest organized by Pasban-e Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir. The protesters raising pro-Islam slogans marched from the Central Press Club to Burhan Wani Chowk.

Addressing the demonstration, the speakers maintained that the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir will not forgive any insolence in the glory of the Holy Prophet (SAW). They said, “The love for the Prophet (SAW) is more than everything in the world, the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir will strongly resist the attacks of Hindu extremists on their religion, Quran, mosques, madrasas and Islamic rituals.”

The speakers said the Bharatiya Janata Party has sown the seeds of hatred against Islam and Muslims in India. They said, the Indian government under the leadership of Narendra Modi is directly sponsoring Hindu organizations which are openly attacking Islamic rituals in India. They warned the BJP government to desist from transferring the politics of Islamophobia and hatred to occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The protestors appealed to the United Nations Security Council to stop the Indian actions against the Muslim identity and their majority in the internationally recognized disputed territory.
