Empowerment of rural women through entrepreneurship can bring revolution in the rural economy of Pakistan.

This was stated by the experts in an event organized by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Engro Fertilizers Ltd. in Sheikhupura.
The farmer’s day was attended by a large number of farmers from surrounding villages.

Mr. Abid Ilyas Dar, project director from Engro Fertilizer said that the agriculture sector is the largest employer of the labour force and the share of women in the agricultural labour force is more than 60 percent.

However, the contribution of women in the agriculture and livestock sector is generally unrecognized.

Small home-based business is a viable option for uplifting the economy of poor households. The Engro Fertilizer Ltd.

in collaboration with the University of Agriculture Faisalabad is promoting technology-driven entrepreneurship and helping rural households to establish small seed enterprises.
