Prof Shawl remembered at condolence meeting in Islamabad

Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter of All Parties Hurriyat Conference organized a condolence meeting at its office in Islamabad to eulogise the services of the renowned Kashmiri scholar Prof. Nazir Ahmad Shawl for the Kashmir cause at the diplomatic front.

According to Kashmir Media Services, the meeting was presided over by Convenor Mahmood Ahmed Saghar while former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan was chief guest on the occasion.

The participants said that Nazir Ahmad Shawl was a fearless Kashmiri leader, who effectively addressed the serious violations of human rights committed by Indian troops in occupied Jammu and Kashmir at the international level. They said that Prof. Shawl fully expressed the sentiments of Kashmiris at the international level and informed the world about the plight of Kashmiris.

The speakers said that the best way to pay homage to Nazir Ahmad Shawl is to carry forward his mission, which is the mission of every freedom-loving Kashmiri. They said that the late Professor was an intellectual, author, a pioneer of the Kashmir cause and a noble person who dedicated his entire life to the solution of the Kashmir conflict and the freedom of territory from Indian rule.

Tributes were also paid to late Sheikh Tajumalul Islam, Muhammad Ayub Thakur and Advocate Mushtaq Ahmad Wani for their outstanding services for the freedom of Kashmir. Prayers were offered for the departed soul of Nazir Ahmed Shall.

Among others who spoke and attended the event included Hurriyat leaders Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Muhammad Farooq Rahmani, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Syed Yusuf Naseem, Mir Tahir Masood, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Imtiaz Wani, Rafiq Ahmad Dar, Hasan al Banna, Advocate Parvez, Altaf Hussain Wani, Zahid Safi, Nisar Mirza, Aijaz Rehmani, Saleem Haroon, Abdul Hameed, Abdul Majid, Javed Jehangir, Dr. Waleed Rasool, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, Raja Shaheen, Dawood Yousafzai, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Gulam Nabi But, Raja Parvaiz, Afsar Khan, Adil Mushtaq Wani, Syed Gulshan, Latif Ahmad Dar, journalists from Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Naeem al Asad, Maqsood Muntazer, Muhammad Ashraf Wani, Muhammad Shahbaz, Abdul Aziz Degu and Khalid Shabbir.—KMS
