ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Palwasha Khan and Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan engaged in heated verbal showdown that left the committee in chaos.
The confrontation unfolded when Palwasha questioned Aleem Khan about allegations that housing society was receiving undue benefits. In a sharp retort, the federal minister accused committee of being filled with corrupt members, saying:
“All the dishonest people of the world have gathered in this committee. Being accused of favoring a housing society is a personal insult to me.”
Palwasha fired back, saying “Why are you getting so upset over a question? Are you embarrassed?” To which Aleem Khan replied with equal intensity: “If you speak about our character, we will speak about yours too. We do not want to come down to the level you have reached. We will answer questions about our character, but you will not get answers from them.”
The exchange got so tense that the committee chairman had to intervene repeatedly in an attempt to mediate the situation.
PPP leader who was visibly angered, demanded that a formal ruling be issued against the federal minister’s behavior, insisting that: “Asking a question is not the same as making an allegation. My question about the road benefiting a specific housing society was my right.”
She clarified that her question was simply whether this road was being used to benefit a particular society. This is the attitude of the members of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet. I will also bring this matter before the party’s senior leadership.”
The verbal clash escalated further when Palwasha said, “You are crossing the line.” Aleem Khan retorted provocatively:
“How dare you? First look at your own matters before mocking others.” At this point, Palwasha Khan lost her composure, saying “Shut up! Will you listen to me?”
The fiery exchange left the Senate committee in shock, showing sharp divide between the ruling party ministers and opposition lawmakers.
