ISLAMABAD – The electricity consumers are likely to face an increase of Rs1.34 per unit in their power bills for three consecutive months under the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reserved its decision on a request submitted by power distribution companies seeking to recover Rs34 billion from consumers.
According to the sources, the proposed quarterly adjustment could result in an increase of Rs1.34 per unit in electricity tariffs each month for three months.
NEPRA is conducting a detailed review of the claims submitted by the distribution companies before announcing its final decision.
The regulator is expected to issue its decision after completing the scrutiny process. The exact financial impact on consumers will be clear once NEPRA formally announces the adjustment.
If approved, the proposed increase would add to electricity bills for consumers over the three-month period.
