Despite door-to-door hunt by Indian police, posters reading with “Hyderpora challo” slogan have once again appeared in various parts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the upcoming second anniversary of the legendary Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gilani falling on Friday, September 01.

Syed Ali Gilani embraced martyrdom in the custody of Indian police on September 01, 2021, at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar where he was kept under house arrest for over one decade.

The posters, pasted by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement, J&K Justice and Peace Initiative, Nawjawanan-e-Hurriyet Jammu Kashmir, Jammu Kashmir Justice League Forum, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Movement, Resistance Youth Forum Jammu Kashmir, Democratic Youth Forum JK and other organizations on walls, pillars and electric poles in different areas of Srinagar, have also urged imams, khateebs and ulema to hold special prayers for Syed Ali Gilani and other Kashmiri martyrs.

The posters urged people to march towards Hyderpora to pay tributes to the veteran leader. Indian forces’ personnel had shamelessly snatched away the body of Syed Ali Gilani and buried it at Hyderpora graveyard in the dark of night against his will. Syed Ali Gilani, according to his family, wanted to be buried at Martyrs Graveyard at Eidgah in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, several APHC leaders of IIOJK and AJK including Syed Bashir Andrabi, Khawaja Firdous, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Muhammad Yasin Attai, APHC-AJK leaders Shaikh Abdul Mateen, Altaf Hussain Wani, Shameem Shawl, Shaikh Yaqoob, Zahid Ashraf, Imtiaz Wani, Advocate Parvez Ahmad, Haji Muhammad Sultan Butt, Qazi Imran, Syed Gulshan Ahmed, Uzair Ahmed Ghazali and others while eulogizing the services of the veteran leader said that the leader’s legacy continues to dominate political life in Kashmir.

They said that Gilani was a towering personality who spent all his life in advocating the Kashmiris’ legitimate right to self-determination.—KMS
