LAHORE – Police fired teargas shells and baton charged the lawyers protesting outside the Lahore High Court (LHC) against shifting of civil courts to Model Town and registration of terrorism cases against lawyers.
Police officials made an attempt to disperse the lawyers when they tried to enter the premises of the high court. They also used water canon against the protest rally.
A number of lawyers staged a protest rally from the House of Justice to LHC to press their demands but the situation turned violent when the attempted to cross the barriers placed around the high court.
The police have also arrested the lawyers participating in the protest. The protesters also pelted stones at the police officials, leaving a SHO injured.
The clash between the police and lawyers has disrupted traffic on the Mall Road, one of the leading arteries in the Punjab capital.
