ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to complete the first phase of the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre by March 2027, stressing that the facility must be equipped with modern medical technology.
Chairing a review meeting in Islamabad, the prime minister said providing quality healthcare to citizens was among the government’s foremost priorities and called for faster implementation of reforms in the health sector.
The meeting reviewed progress on the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre and the Phase-II extension of the Federal Government Polyclinic. Officials presented different designs and proposals for the proposed medical complex and briefed the meeting on the ongoing construction of the polyclinic extension.
It was decided that the under-construction Federal Government Polyclinic Extension in Sector G-11 would be launched as the first phase of the Jinnah Medical Complex. The arrangement is intended to make the facility functional at the earliest and expand access to quality healthcare services for residents.
Prime Minister Shehbaz directed the authorities to complete the first phase by March and ensure that it is developed as a modern, state-of-the-art hospital.
He also ordered the installation of advanced and high-tech medical equipment at the facility to provide patients with modern healthcare services.
The prime minister further directed that third-party validation of the project should continue alongside construction work to ensure transparency, quality and compliance with required standards.
He emphasized that work on the project should be expedited without compromising construction quality or the standards planned for the healthcare facility.
