ISLAMABAD – The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 4,761 new companies in August 2026, taking the total number of registered companies in the country to 311,765.
The SECP said 99.9% of company registrations during August were completed online, reflecting the growing adoption of digital services and streamlined business registration procedures.
The commission said three foreign companies also registered in Pakistan during the month, while 134 foreign investors invested in newly registered companies. The foreign investors included 106 Chinese nationals, indicating continued interest from international investors in Pakistan’s corporate sector.
Of the companies registered in August, 2,762 were private limited companies, while 1,846 were single-member companies.
The information technology sector recorded the highest number of new registrations, with 872 companies joining the corporate sector during the month. The trading sector followed with 732 new companies, while 601 companies were registered in the services sector.
The construction sector saw the registration of 295 new companies, while 232 companies entered the tourism sector.
Punjab remained the leading region in terms of new company registrations, accounting for 2,547 companies during August. Islamabad recorded 843 new registrations, followed by Sindh with 702 and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 407.
A total of 151 companies were registered in Gilgit-Baltistan, while 111 new companies were registered in Balochistan.
The SECP said the increase in company registrations reflected growing confidence among businesses and the impact of digital transformation in corporate regulatory services.
The commission’s chairman said the rising number of registrations demonstrated increasing business confidence and greater acceptance of digital processes, which have made it easier for entrepreneurs to establish companies and enter the formal economy.
