ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday approved the reconstitution of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet, adding one new member and raising the total strength of the committee to eight.
Following the prime minister’s approval, the Cabinet Division on Monday issued a formal notification outlining the revised composition of the ECC.
According to the notification, Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb will continue as chairman of the committee.
The Board of Investment (BoI) Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has been inducted as a new member of the ECC.
His inclusion expands the committee’s membership from seven to eight.
The other members of the restructured ECC include Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Minister for Power Owais Leghari, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal.
The ECC was previously constituted on May 22 with seven members.
The latest reconstitution is aimed at strengthening the committee’s decision-making capacity on key economic matters.
