Which Country Is Most Indebted In 2025 List In The World

Japan has topped the list of world’s most indebted countries for 2025 while Pakistan is not among highest debt-burdened nations

The international financial institutions have released the 2025 rankings of the world’s most heavily indebted countries, assessing national debt volumes, debt-to-GDP ratios and, in several cases, combined public and government liabilities.

According to the report, Japan remains the most indebted country globally, with its total debt expected to reach 242 percent of its GDP in 2025 — the highest among all nations.

The list of top 10 highly indebted countries also includes the United States, France, Italy, the Maldives, Singapore, Sudan and Greece.

A notable feature of this year’s ranking, according to foreign media, is that Pakistan does not appear among the world’s highest debt-burdened countries in 2025.
