Pm Shehbaz Military Leadership Vow All Out Offensive Against Terrorism After Balochistan Attacks

QUETTA – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a united civil-military resolve to intensify Pakistan’s fight against terrorism after a string of deadly attacks in Balochistan.

Chairing a high-level security meeting in Quetta alongside the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, the premier vowed that counterterrorism operations would continue until militant networks were eliminated.

He said the recent attacks, which claimed the lives of security personnel, police officers and civilians, demanded a decisive national response. Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir attended the high-level meeting alongside senior civilian and military officials.

“Pakistan’s civil and military leadership stands united. We will not retreat until terrorism is eradicated,” the prime minister said, describing the decision as a joint commitment by all state institutions.

The meeting came after a wave of violence in Balochistan since July 5 left 42 people dead, including four civilians, 27 police personnel and 11 members of the security forces. According to the military, security operations launched in response to the attacks killed 54 militants across the province.

Shehbaz Sharif said the country would continue its counterterrorism campaign with full force, stressing that every available resource would be deployed to dismantle militant networks threatening Pakistan’s security and stability.

PM also repeated Pakistan’s allegations that India was backing militant groups involved in attacks inside the country. He claimed the groups received financial assistance, weapons and logistical support from India’s “eastern neighbour” and alleged that militants operating from Afghanistan had carried out attacks in both Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He further referred to the involvement of other hostile elements but did not elaborate.

Calling Fitna Al Khawarij, PM Sharif said group’s objective was to undermine Pakistan’s international standing, diplomatic achievements and recent military successes. He argued that hostile forces were attempting to destabilise the country after failing to accept Pakistan’s growing global recognition.

Making one of his strongest statements yet, the prime minister announced that the federal government, the military leadership and the Balochistan administration would jointly pursue terrorists without pause, expressing confidence that lasting peace would ultimately transform Pakistan into a nation of progress and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and senior officials from law enforcement agencies. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had travelled to Quetta earlier in the day to review the province’s deteriorating security situation. He was accompanied by Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah.

The prime minister’s visit followed detailed military briefing in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, where ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said three major terrorist attacks had struck Balochistan in recent days: an armed assault on the outskirts of Quetta on July 5, an attack on a police post in Ziarat on July 6, and an ambush targeting an army convoy in Bela on Wednesday.
