QUETTA – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir have reiterated the resolve to counter foreign-sponsored terrorism, especially in Balochistan.
Speaking at a Grand Jirga at Quetta’s Zehri Auditorium on Sunday, they vowed to crush elements threatening the sovereignty of Pakistan. Both the premier and the COAS appreciated the security forces and law enforcement agencies in Balochistan for their bravery and sacrifices.
The premier condemned Indian-backed terrorism and warned that attempts to destabilize Balochistan would be met with decisive action. He made it clear that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies would defeat terrorism with the support of the nation. He praised Balochistan’s tribal elders for preserving national unity and stressed the need for engagement of the masses to deny space to terror organisations like Fitna Al-Hindustan. He assured continued state support to the families of martyrs and pledged zero tolerance for terrorists and their facilitators.
Field Marshal Asim Munir said that the ongoing violence in Balochistan was part of an Indian-backed proxy war. He reiterated the resolve to crush every element threatening Pakistan’s sovereignty. He said that there was concrete evidence of Indian involvement in terrorism in Balochistan. “These nefarious efforts will be defeated by the Pakistan Army with the full support of the nation and the brave people of Balochistan,” he said.
The tribal elders pledged full support to the state’s security and development efforts.
Earlier, the premier also visited the Command and Staff College Quetta, where he addressed student officers and faculty. Stressing the need for operational readiness and strategic foresight, he emphasised the significance of professional military education in countering evolving hybrid threats, particularly in sensitive regions like Balochistan.
