The PIA management has failed to provide medical facilities to its employees. After every few months the medicine supplier like Serve aid, Fazal din Pharma and now Shaheen Phamarcy located inside the PAF hospital Sarfraz Rafiqui Road Lahore Cantt terminate the contract with PIA due to non-payment of bills amounting to millions.
The Doctors who had issued medicine issuing forms in the name of Shaheen pharmacy were not aware that the contract had been terminated by the supplier. Employees who went to Shaheen Pharmacy PAF hospital returned empty handed.
Ch. Razzaq a former employee of store department PIA said that he had to pay repeated visits to PIA medical center for medicines but rarely was he succeeded in getting medicines.
He was of the view that before taking over Air Marshal Arshad Malik there were no medicines in PIA he came and solved the issue of medicines for airline employees up to some extent.
The concerned department did not bother to inform its own medical centers that the contract has been terminated.
The doctors of PIA are now advising the employees to purchase the medicines and submit the bills for reimbursement which again is a three to four months procedure.
The average pensioner in PIA in management has an average pension of Rs. 7000/month meaning he will have to manage his medicines and his other expenses in the said amount. Hospitals are refusing PIA patients of Corona due to non-payments as well.
Another employee of PIA engineering department seeking anonymity said that there one to deal with the former employees regarding provision of medicines.
Sometimes doctors recommend some hospital or doctor to employee for treatment and let suppose there is an expense of Rs. 3 lac for any surgery etc PIA only pay Rs. 2 lac and rest of the one lac is supposed to be paid by employee from his own pocket.
