LAHORE – In a major decision, the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) has allowed students of the Arts group to apply for admission to Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering programs at the intermediate level.
The decision was made by the IBCC, allowing students, who completed their matric with Arts subjects, nationwide to pursue these fields.
An IBCC spokesperson said the decision was taken during the 183rd meeting held in Karachi on December 4 and 5, 2025, after consultations and recommendations from all relevant stakeholders.
These included the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Higher Education Commission (HEC), National Curriculum Council (NCC), and provincial curriculum authorities.
The IBCC Director has issued an official notification confirming that this policy will be implemented starting from the first annual SSC examinations in 2026.
The notification also specifies that institutions offering admissions must ensure that merit criteria, including minimum marks and placement tests, are met for prospective students.
Earlier, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore, has issued schedule for intermediate Part 1 regular admissions for session 2025-27.
Students can submit their applications at the educational institutions with a regular fee by December 12.
After that, admissions will be accepted with double fee from December 13 to December 22.
A notification was issued on December 5 regarding the admissions, but the original dates were set from December 1 to December 12.
As of today five days of the deadline have already passed, leaving students with just seven days to complete their admissions.
Students are advised to submit their forms as soon as possible to avoid late fees. The admissions process is a critical step for students planning to continue their education in the upcoming academic year.
The Lahore board announced that no any institution will be allowed to accept admissions after the due date.
