ISLAMABAD – Petrol prices in Pakistan may see a significant drop in upcoming fortnightly review for January 2026 amid downward trend in global market.

The federal government will announce the new petrol prices for January 2026 on December 31 night after reviewing the summary to be sent by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

Reports suggest that the petrol price is likely to drop by Rs10.60 per litre and high speed diesel rate by Rs8.59 per litre.

Similarly, the price of kerosene oil is likely to see a dip of Rs9 and light speed diesel Rs6.62 per litre.

If the reported decrease in petrol prices is approved, it would be great gift for Pakistanis on the New Year’s eve.

Current Petrol Prices in Pakistan

Currently, the petrol price stands at Rs263.45 per litre while high speed diesel is available for Rs265.65 till December 31, 2025. Similarly, the price of kerosene oil and light speed diesel stand at Rs176.81 and Rs159.76, respectively.

Expected Petrol Prices in Pakistan from 1 January 2026

If the government approves reported Rs10.60 per litre cut in petrol prices, the expected rate will be Rs253.45.

Similarly, the expected per litre price of high speed diesel will be Rs257.06 while the light speed diesel price would be Rs153.14.

Furthermore, the kersone price would be Rs167.81, if the reported decrease in rates is approved for January 2026.
