PIA announces resumption of Islamabad-London flights after six-year hiatus

Pia To Launch Direct Flights From Lahore To Paris From June 18 2025

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of its Islamabad to London flights after a six-year break.

The airline, in a statement, said four weekly flights will be operated, landing at Heathrow Airport’s modern Terminal 4. The inaugural flight is set to depart on March 29, marking the return of this popular route.

This move comes after PIA recently resumed flights from Islamabad to Manchester. The London route, known as one of PIA’s most frequented international services, had been paused for several years.

Currently, PIA operates three weekly flights to Manchester, with London now making its return to the national carrier’s international network.

Earlier this month, Arif Habib-led consortium purchased 75% of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for Rs135 billion, marking country’s first major real privatisation transaction in decades.

Under agreement, Pakistani government will receive Rs10.2 billion in cash, while remaining amount will be directly invested into PIA to support fleet modernization, operational restructuring, and overall enhancement of the national carrier.

Officials described deal as a key step toward strengthening airline, improving service quality, and ensuring long-term financial stability. The transaction represents landmark moment for Pakistan’s privatisation efforts, attracting significant attention from both domestic and international investors. Experts believe that under the Arif Habib consortium, PIA is poised for modernization, improved operational efficiency, and expansion of routes, potentially boosting the country’s aviation sector and economic growth.
