KARACHI – Petrol and Diesel prices in Pakistan jumped by upto Rs19 per litre from May 1 amid fresh surge in global oil prices and rising market pressure.
A sharp increase in global oil prices sparked fresh concerns over another rise in fuel costs. Pakistan Observer was informed by sources that the government is currently trying to limit the impact on consumers and is working to avoid what could have been a major increase of up to Rs40 per litre.

Officials have also cautioned that any increase in the petroleum levy could push prices even higher. Meanwhile, uncertainty in global supply routes, including concerns around the Strait of Hormuz, is adding further pressure to the outlook. Some sources warn that if the situation does not stabilize, a larger price adjustment could follow around May 9.
With fuel costs remaining highly sensitive to global developments, consumers are once again bracing for potential changes in the coming days
