ISLAMABAD – Petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices go up again, with consumers forced to pay more under daily petroleum pricing mechanism.
For August 26, price of petrol has been increased by Rs1.12 per litre, pushing the rate from Rs341.98 to Rs343.10. The price of high-speed diesel has also been raised by Rs1.11 per litre, moving from Rs370.69 to Rs371.80.

The revised rates will remain in force for August 26 and 27, reflecting the government’s practice of making more frequent adjustments in response to movements in international oil markets and other pricing factors.
The latest hike extends the upward movement in petrol prices seen during the latter part of August. Petrol began the month at Rs336.03 per litre on August 1. The rate subsequently eased and touched levels of around Rs324.98–Rs325.43 per litre during the middle of the month before reversing course.
By August 25, petrol had climbed to Rs341.98, meaning the latest revision takes the cumulative increase from the start of August to roughly Rs7.07 per litre, or around 2.1%.
The sharper rise has come during the final stretch of the month, erasing much of the relief consumers received earlier in August.
The latest increase comes after Pakistan shifted from its earlier weekly review system to a daily petroleum pricing mechanism, introduced amid heightened volatility in global oil markets.
Under the revised arrangement, OGRA uses international oil prices, exchange-rate movements and other relevant cost components to determine the ex-depot rates, allowing domestic prices to respond more rapidly to changes in global markets.
The mechanism was introduced after renewed instability in the international oil market linked to the Middle East conflict, which created concerns over crude supplies and energy routes.
Despite the latest increase, petrol remains substantially below its April 2026 peak of around Rs458.41 per litre. HSD is also well below its April high of Rs520.35 per litre.
