Petrol, Diesel Prices Go Up Further in Pakistan; check new rates here

New Petrol Price In Pakistan For January 2025

Petrol and diesel prices climbed further in Pakistan for August 25, with petrol reaching Rs341.98 per litre and diesel rising to Rs370.69 per litre, adding fresh pressure on motorists and household budgets.

Under the latest adjustment, petrol has gone up by 39 paisas per litre, taking its price to Rs341.98 per litre. Diesel has taken a bigger hit, with its price jumping Rs2.40 per litre to Rs370.69.

Petrol is now just a whisker away from the Rs342-per-litre mark, while diesel has crossed Rs370 per litre — a development that could have a wider impact on transportation and the prices of goods moved across the country. The surge comes at particularly tense moment for global oil markets. International crude prices have been swinging sharply as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to raise concerns about the security of oil supplies.

Interestingly, crude prices moved lower in early Asian trading on Monday. WTI crude fell 2.16% to $85.18 per barrel, while Brent crude dropped 2.19% to $92.32 per barrel. But there is a catch.

Both benchmarks had jumped by more than 5% last week, as traders reacted to growing fears surrounding Iranian oil exports, escalating US-Iran tensions and a major slowdown in tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Markets are now waiting for more details about a new US sanctions package targeting Iran. If Washington imposes tougher restrictions on Iranian crude exports, or if shipping through Hormuz faces further disruption, global oil supplies could come under additional pressure. And that could mean more volatility, and potentially another jump in crude prices.

For now, Monday’s decline in oil prices appears to be more about investors cashing in profits after last week’s rally than a sign that geopolitical tensions have actually eased. For Pakistan, however, the impact is already being felt.

With petrol now at Rs341.98 per litre and diesel at Rs370.69 per litre, motorists are staring at another expensive fuel cycle. If global tensions continue to push oil markets higher, the pressure on Pakistan’s fuel prices, transportation costs and everyday household expenses could become even harder to ignore.
