ISLAMABAD – Gold prices in Pakistan moved down by Rs800 per tola to Rs4.65 lac amid decline in international bullion rates.
On September 1, price of 24-karat gold fell by Rs800 per tola to Rs465,336, whereas price of 10-gram gold also declined, dropping Rs686 to Rs398,950. The latest move follows another decline recorded on Monday, when gold lost Rs1,800 per tola and settled at Rs466,136.
Gold prices in the international market also weakened on Tuesday. The global rate fell by $8 to $4,428 per ounce, with the quoted rate carrying a $20 premium.
The domestic silver market also recorded a decline. Silver dropped Rs50 per tola, bringing its price down to Rs7,129.
Gold August Trend
Despite the recent correction, gold has recorded a substantial increase over the course of August. At the beginning of the month, 24-karat gold was trading at approximately Rs428,000–430,000 per tola. The market subsequently gained momentum, with prices climbing sharply and nearing Rs484,000 per tola during the final week of August.
From the opening levels of the month to the recent highs, gold added approximately Rs53,000–54,000 per tola, translating into an overall increase of around 12.5%–12.6%.
The strongest phase came between August 24 and 26, when gold remained within the Rs481,500–484,000 per-tola range. The market then came under renewed selling pressure from August 27, resulting in a retreat from those elevated levels.
Gold Price This Year
Gold saw swings in Pakistan throughout 2026. The precious metal crossed the Rs500,000-per-tola mark in January before entering a weaker period between March and June. By July, prices had eased and were generally trading around Rs420,000–430,000 per tola.
The direction changed considerably in August as renewed buying pushed gold higher. Prices climbed from the low Rs430,000 range toward Rs484,000 per tola, before the market entered its latest corrective phase.
The long-term increase is equally notable. In August 2025, gold was trading at approximately Rs360,000 per tola. At Tuesday’s rate of Rs465,336 per tola, gold is now roughly 29% higher year-on-year, highlighting the substantial increase in domestic bullion prices over the past 12 months.
