The latest correction comes just 24 hours after gold recorded a sharp rally. On Wednesday, the yellow metal had surged by Rs4,600 per tola, pushing the local price to Rs433,836. Thursday’s decline erased a portion of those gains, underscoring the rapid swings that have become a defining feature of the bullion market in recent weeks.
International markets also remained under pressure. The global benchmark for gold slipped by $18 per ounce to $4,096, a price that includes a $20 premium. Since Pakistan’s bullion market closely tracks international prices along with exchange rate movements, the overseas decline was quickly reflected in domestic rates.
Silver prices also moved lower, with the price of silver per tola falling by Rs33 to Rs6,370, indicating broader weakness across the precious metals segment.
