Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally protested against the broadcast of an interview with the sons of former Pakistan captain Imran Khan during the lunch break on the opening day of the first Test between Pakistan and England at Lord’s.
The latest reports suggested that the PCB lodged an official complaint with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) over the interview, which was broadcast by Sky Sports.
The PCB reportedly considered not sending the Pakistan team back onto the field after the lunch interval in protest against the broadcast. However, after briefly delaying the resumption, the team returned to the field and the interview was aired.
The interview was conducted by former England captain and current Sky Sports broadcaster Mike Atherton.
During the interview, Imran Khan’s sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, expressed concerns about their father’s health.
The broadcast has drawn a strong reaction from the PCB, which maintains that the interview was inappropriate to air during an ongoing Test match involving Pakistan.
