Passport Home Delivery Service Starts In Pakistan Via Courier

KARACHI – No more waiting in long queues or making a second visit to passport office, as Pakistan officially launched passport home delivery service, allowing citizens to get their passports at their doorstep through an official courier service after completing the application process.

The federal government officially launched passport home delivery service, allowing citizens to receive their passports at their doorstep instead of making another trip to the passport office.

The new service has been introduced by the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports in partnership with TCS, which will now serve as the department’s official courier partner.

The announcement was made during a meeting between DG Immigration & Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa and TCS CEO Hassan Raza Laghari, where both sides formalized the agreement aimed at making passport services more accessible and convenient.

At time of submission of passport application, applicants can now simply opt for home delivery. Once the passport is ready, it will be dispatched through TCS and delivered directly to the address provided, eliminating the need to return to the passport office for collection.

Officials said the initiative is to make process faster, safer, and more citizen-friendly, while reducing long queues and saving applicants valuable time and travel costs.

The launch is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize public services under the reforms introduced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. It also follows the earlier decision to make passport offices cashless, another step aimed at improving transparency and efficiency.

For many Pakistanis, especially those living far from passport offices or juggling busy schedules, the new home delivery option could make obtaining a passport significantly easier than before.

Another innitiative of Pakistan’s cashless passport was also started under government’s broader effort to digitize public services and make passport application process more efficient. Under new system, applicants no longer need to pay passport fees in cash at passport offices or designated bank counters.

Instead, they are issued a unique Payment Slip ID (PSID), which can be used to make payments through mobile banking apps, internet banking, ATMs, digital wallets, or any 1LINK-enabled banking channel. Once the payment is confirmed, the passport application proceeds without the need for a cash transaction.

The initiative is aimed at improving transparency, reducing waiting times, and making the overall process more convenient for citizens. By eliminating cash handling, the government hopes to minimize involvement of unauthorized agents and ensure a more secure and streamlined fee collection system.

The cashless model is one of several recent reforms introduced to modernize passport services, alongside the rollout of e-passports, the integration of online applications with the Pak ID platform, and the launch of a passport home delivery service through an official courier partner. Together, these measures are intended to make obtaining a passport quicker, easier, and more accessible for people across Pakistan.
