An online Mir Gul Khan Naseer National Literary Seminar was organized by the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) marking Mir Gul Khan’s 37th death anniversary, the renowned progressive poet, researcher, historian and intellectual of the Balochi language.
The presidium at the online seminar comprised Iftikhar Arif and Prof. Dr Badal Khan.
Taj Joyo and Ahmed Saleem were guests of honour while Dr Wahid Bakhsh Buzdar, Dr Abdul Saboor Baloch, and Dr. Abdullah Jan Abid were also among the noted guests.
Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Chairman PAL gave the introductory speech. Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Mehr, Dr. Liaqat Sunni, Yar Jan Badeni, Dr. Ramzan Bamarri, and Tariq Rahim Baloch expressed their views. Dr. Zia-ur-Rehman Baloch was the moderator.
In his presidential address, Iftikhar Arif said Mir Gul Khan Naseer’s literary genius was a great asset not only for the Balochi language but also for Pakistani literature.
He said Baloch poetry and literature were incomplete without Mir Gul Khan Naseer. Mir Gul Khan Naseer was the most prominent poet, intellectual and politician of the Balochi language like Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Sheikh Ayaz and Ajmal Khattak. He spent his whole life on a special mission that is a beacon for generations to come.
Chairman, PAL, while delivering the welcome address said Mir Gul Khan Naseer was a multi-faceted creator. He was a poet, writer, historian, politician, journalist and eminent educator. Mir Gul Khan Naseer conveyed the themes of patriotism, awareness and respect for humanity to the reader through his poetic beauty and effective expression. His role has been most prominent in all these fields.
The Chairman, PAL said that the literary capital of Mir Gul Khan Naseer is a very valuable asset of the history and literature of Balochistan. He also received the title of Malik al-Shu’ara because of his high-minded poetry. Chairman PAL, Dr Yousuf Khushk said that Mir Gul Khan Naseer’s spirit of love for the Baloch nation has reached people all over the world. Undoubtedly, Mir Gul Khan Naseer was a universal creator.
Prof Dr Badal Khan said that Mir Gul Khan Naseer was a universal personality. They were like a bouquet. He was primarily a poet. Public and revolutionary colors are prominent in his poetry. He worked on Balochi language and poetry as well as Balochi folk literature and history.
Taj Joyo said that Mir Gul Khan Naseer is an elder of the Balochi language.
